To build up and improve your culinary business, there are some aspects to think about such as beautiful food photography composition. One of them is related to marketing. When promoting your products, you must make sure that the foods you sell are captured well.
This way, they really look delicious and tempting when posting them on your blog or social media. Sure, there are some techniques to apply to food photography. What are they?
Beautiful Food Photography Composition 1 : The Distance between Foods and the Camera
One of the most common mistakes done even by professional photographers is the distance from foods to the camera. You should not capture them very closely so that they look better.
To beautify it more, some fresh spices can be added as ornaments. You can also put some visual flowers. Yes, this type of close-up technique makes the foods look tastier particularly if there are many colors or textures to display.
Beautiful Food Photography Composition 2 : Use a Negative Room
You can try to put the foods on a corner of the frame to provide space around the foods. Slightly, this technique sounds not effective. But in photography, the focus must not always be placed in the middle. You can put it in the corner just to add an artistic look to the object captured. For the rest, let it empty.
The Rule of Thirds
There is a technique in photography namely the Rule of Third. This technique lets you imagine dividing the object into 9 areas with 6 imaginary lines; 3 horizontal lines and 3 vertical lines.
The object, ideally, is placed only in one line or one spot where the lines are crossing each other. If it is difficult for you to draw imaginary lines in your mind, you can check it later using the Grid tool.
Symmetry and Balance
When the negative room technique is still difficult to apply, you can use the easier one, known as the Symmetry and Balance technique. So, the object is placed in the middle with the same spaces on both sides.
It is better to add some components like white background or put the plate of foods above the napkin. For beginners, this technique is simple to do before learning about others.
Diagonal Movements
Do you want to increase the dramatic effect of the food? So, the next technique to apply is diagonal movement. It is by applying some additional tools that are placed diagonally around the food. Those tools can be a knife, a fork, a piece of leaf, and more. it is a simple technique but the effect is great mainly to make the food captured look more artistic.
